London 6.11.09

Today the weather was amazing... it started off cool and warmed up a bit but it was the first time we saw sun. It did drizzle for about 2 mins. then the rest of the day was awesome!

We got out late because we were trying to get in contact with our friend Critsey who was coming in from Germany today! Mom and I got a bite to eat from Mc D's again and had a picnic in Hyde Park! We walked to the Princess Diana memorial and then walked into the Kensington Gardens and saw Kensington Palace. By then Critsey got here and we walked to her hotel. She is staying in a very cool hotel with orange couches and black and white striped wall paper... my mom loved it. Her room is cool but tiny... she had my mom laughing very hard, she said she could stand up and touch both walls... she wasn't lying, she showed us!

We left Critsey's hotel and started back down Hyde Park without a plan and so we started taking pictures of London things... my mom and Critsey were having so much fun then a car passed by and it had a police escort when we looked in my mom thought it was the Queen but we found out later she rides in a Rolls Royce and this was a Jaguar and Princess Ann usually rides in this kind of car either way... we saw Royalty!

We caught a cab after that and went to dinner and had Italian, it was good too! After that, it was late and here we are again!

I think we have a big day tomorrow hopefully the Tube strike will be over so we can cover more ground and not have to walk everywhere!

London 6.10.09

This morning we got up very early... 7:00AM, we had a Tour at 7:45. We met in the lobby with the Grayline Golden Tours for a day heading to Stonehenge and Salisbury and Bath...

A 2 hour drive and then

Ist stop, Stonehenge... Huge Rocks in a circular formation... Nobody knows how or why really! Mom took lots of pictures. Mom also told me 1000 times that when she was little she actually sat on the rocks, today, we can only stand behind the ropes and admire this phenomenon! And that's all I have to say about that!

2nd stop... Salisbury! But before we went to see the Cathedral we had Lunch at The Cloisters, We had to let share our table with some other people and my mom waved over another mom with her daughter and her daughter's friend. They happened to be from Tennesee and they were fun company to have to eat with! Hello to Emily & Kelley! We were served chicken casserole and this is not what you would think... it was more of a chicken stew and then for dessert we had a piece of apple pie and cream. I left hungry! Okay now, the Salisbury Cathedral, lots of history and very cool to see. We saw Catherine The Greats tomb! Most of the Cathedral was under construction so we couldn't get a full view from the outside. We did get to see one of the four remaining Magna Carta, a document that was written in Latin on a leather page with a feather pen for the English Barons trying to work out issues with the King. King John signed the document, this document became the basis for other Constitutions. A quick funny, on the way out, mom wanted a shot of the spire (steeple) which is 404 ft tall and 29" off center... and in order to do so, she walked into a field in front of the cathedral and squatted down and then fell down she cracked up laughing and so did I! I don't know who else saw but it was funny!

3rd stop... Bath! We went to see the Roman Baths They were very cool and very old! I can't image all of the people coming here to Bathe! Yuck! They also used the baths as a "healing" pool too. They closed the pools to the public when a girl contracted meningitis. I was most amazed by the Hot Spring it was really boiling... The water was 120 degrees this was cool!
When we were leaving, mom dropped her small camera in the Roman Bathroom's toilet. She was not happy!!!! We joined our new friends out in front of the Baths and while we waited on the bus to come it poured down rain!!! My mom let Kelley, Emily and her mom use our bigger umbrella and 6 people ended up standing underneath it and all tried to walk across the street it was so funny!

A 3 hour drive back and whew, what a long day! London Tubes went on strike today and they have shut down all underground railroads except 2 I think... this is not good as it is the major transportation for the city! Traffic was not fun to deal with on the way home and took us about 45 mins longer than it should have.

When we got dropped off, we found a close McDonald's we are experiencing the London cuisine to it's finest and headed to the hotel and here I am blogging and now it's 00.21 or 12:20 which is 7:20 Charlotte Time. So I am going to Facebook now and add some photos and then to bed! Tomorrow Critsey comes and my mom is so excited!

London days 6.8.09-6.9.09

We left Charlotte on June 8th late in the evening and flew into Philadelphia. The captain came on the intercom during the flight and pointed out a 20 mile wide Thunderstorm 45 miles off our left wing and 45,000 ft. high! This was awesome! My mom didn't like it very much! I also think that we were sitting beside George Clooney on the flight but he was a bit chubby and mom says it wasn't him! When we landed at 9:53pm we had 2 minutes to get to our next gate... this wasn't gonna happen!! A kind "cart" man saw my mom's face go into panic mode and he was nice enough to give us a ride and then even called ahead for a second "cart" man to finish the 10 min trip across the airport! We were the last to load onto the plane!

We arrived in London at 11:00AM (London time, 6AM Charlotte time) on June 9th. After a night of no sleep and several pockets of turbulence. We were exhausted and off to customs we went... Passports in hand we looked up and saw a real actor, Dax Shepard (pictured above) you know, the guy from Baby Mama! My mom tried to get me to get his autograph but it was way too early! Then we got our luggage and went to get a cab! We rode in what mom calls a pretty red London Taxi! The man had a model of the Concorde on his dash so of course mom had to brag about the fact that her dad flew this and she got to ride on it! He was so impressed she thinks! He was very talkative and then the fun began for me... We saw Bentley, 750LD (for diesel) a 125 coupe BMW, and a Ferrari!

We got to the hotel and checked in and mom came to the room and crashed for an hour then we got up went to eat at the Duke of York Pub, yes, we had delicious Fish N Chips! They were great! We watched cricket on the telly!

After dinner, we had to come back to the hotel and get jackets because we were freezing and... Mom had on a black shoe and a brown shoe! She thinks that I tricked her by giving her two different shoes while she was very tired... Not me! Then we walked through Hyde Park looking for the Princess Diana memorial and found many ducks, geese and Swans with babies. When we saw how much further we had to walk to get there we decided we were way too tired and headed back found a Baskin Robbins and that made us both very happy! Went to the room and went to bed!

The days before the big trip

For those of you that do not know french the name of my blog spot is UK and Europe vacation with my mom. My trip is on monday and I haven't done anything to prepare for it. The only reason that I am going is because my moms friend Critsey was going for a couple of photo shoots and she asked my mom to tag along. That is when my mom decided to ask my dad to go on the trip. My dad has already been to Paris and he didn't see any reason in going again so I got the opportunity to go with her. I just got out of school yesterday after having all my exams. I am very excited to have this chance because i know that not all kids get the chance to go to London and Paris. This is my first time going over seas. Since this is the first time i go out of the country I had to go get my passport. While we were waiting in the line for the passports my mom told my dad that he should get his renewed while we were there. That is when she said the best thing ever "hone why don't you get yours renewed so that way when we go to hawii we wont have to worry about it". After she said that me and my dad looked at her with blank stares and she had no idea why. For those of you that are a little slower... Hawaii is a state and you do not need a passport to go there. Well my mom needs her computer back so I have to give it back. I will update you guys
